TSRA Chapters: Reach Your Community Today
Menard County Extension Agent Lisa Brown received 2 donates safes from the Don Benson Family and a check from TSRA to help replace and make repairs at their 4-H Shooting Sports Clubhouse. L-R: TSRA Hill Country Chapter President Austin Skero, Lisa Brown, and TSRA Executive Director John Poole
Hill Country TSRA Chapter President, Austin Skero, and TSRA Executive Director, John Poole, met with Menard County Extension Agent, Lisa Brown last week. Skero and Poole gave two safes, donated by the Don Benson Family, and a check from TSRA. These items were donated to help make repairs to the 4-H Shooting Sports Clubhouse, after devastating damages were incurred to the facility and safes from the horrible summer floods of the San Saba River.
The Hill Country Chapter has been very involved in aid for the floods and has been on the lookout for a recipient of this assistance. We at TSRA Headquarters have been grateful for the help from this Chapter. Our door is always open for communication with our members, but we are a small office in a big state and cannot reach everyone on a personal level. That’s where the TSRA Local Chapters come in. This pilot program started last year with 3 Chapters.
These Chapters have been successful, with some seeing upwards of 60 members joining them. The initial Chapters have held social events, shooting matches, and other get-togethers that helped with their success. The TSRA Bylaws have been amended to make the Chapters a permanent part of our organization, and we want to bring this to more communities throughout Texas. You can be a local leader to help get this started in your area.

The Texas State Rifle Association is proud to have 30,000+ members throughout Texas. We are a huge State, 10 hours from one end to the other in almost any direction. This means that our members can be hours apart. It means that we may not know that our neighbor or townspeople are like minded or TSRA members. This brand-new program enables existing members to meet one another and encourages new members to join. It will bring like-minded people together; it will bring a sense of local community to our historic organization.
We have our Annual Members and Board of Directors Meeting once a year to hear the standings and business of the Association. But a Chapter will bring you together more often, sharing meetings, events and outings as a local group with a focused direction. It will provide the ability to recruit and incorporate other local men, women, and families who believe in what we do together. We need these new people so TSRA can stay in the business of everything 2A-related for another 100 years.

We help you spread the word about your New Chapter and meetings. We can email members who live in a specific demographic area and can promote your Chapter and any meetings. Our social media accounts are available to share your posts to reach more. Right now our social media reaches tens of thousands of people and TSRA members each week. After your meeting(s), we encourage you to do a write up for us to post on our news page.
Plus, you don’t have to go it alone. Per our organization's bylaws, Chapters must have four officers, so you will have people you select working alongside you to make your local TSRA Chapter the best one yet! Also, every Chapter will have a Mentor from the TSRA Board of Directors. Your Mentor will be someone in your area.
You might have thousands of like-minded individuals in your city. Meet them today!
