The TSRA Legislative Team works year-round to provide Texans with information, support, and guidance when it comes to all things legislation. In an election year, this work intensifies. An election year brings the extensive research on political candidates. This research becomes a Voter's Guide, provided to all TSRA-Members. The Guide includes the grading given to the candidates by TSRA, based solely on their 2A history.
A Legislative Session year increases the workload too. The TSRA PAC is needed before, during, and after the Session. The TSRA Legislative Team reviews bills and meets with lawmakers and staff. The Team will testify during the Session and do any other work necessary to prepare.
Pre-Filing for a Session starts the fall before the Session. For the upcoming 89th Session, pre-filing began on November 12, 2024. The Session will start on January 14, 2025. We have already seen dozens of anti-gun bills prefiled by our opponents. We are now seeing and sharing what we have found on the pro firearm legislation. Many TSRA-endorsed Representatives have filed measures to protect or enhance our 2A Rights. Just like the Representatives, we at TSRA are in full support of these measures.
