Scholarship Opportunities

TSRA Scholarship:

Mr. George E. Tubb was dedicated to the promotion of shooting sports. This Canadian, Texas, rancher was the Texas Ambassador to the Shooting World. This native Texan and war hero served his nation and the people of Texas with distinction. He was President of the Texas State Rifle Association, a Director of the National Rifle Association, a Distinguished Rifleman, A High Master in High-power Rifles, and a member of eight U.S. Palma teams that competed internationally. In addition, he was a highly decorated World War II veteran. He was inducted into the Army from the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and was a battle-tested Infantry Company Commander at the age of twenty. He loved his family, God, ranching, his country, and shooting sports. George was a true American patriot. This scholarship was established at the main Campus of Texas A&M University to memorialize George Tubb’s contributions to the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), the National Rifle Association, and shooting sports worldwide. TSRA expects scholarship recipients to continue the Tubb tradition of promoting shooting sports. Applicants for the Tubb Memorial Scholarships must be students that Texas A&M has accepted, will be registered as a full-time student at the College Station campus, and are TSRA members.

George Tubb Memorial Application

TSRA Foundation Scholarships:

This scholarship will be open to Texas residents (graduating high school seniors or current university students), who must be a TSRA member, have a shooting background, be a full-time student, and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or greater at their selected Texas college or university.

William T. Clark Jr. Application

This scholarship will be open to Texas residents who must be a member of TSRA, have a shooting background, be a full-time student, and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or greater at their selected Texas college or university. Bartlett & Benson Scholarships are for students with a shooting background.

Paul Bartlett & Kitty Benson Application

The Sportsman’s scholarships are provided by an anonymous donor to recognize, encourage, and promote the education of our future leaders in wildlife management, hunting heritage and activities, firearm safety, and conservation of Texas wildlife. Students majoring in programs that enhance hunting and firearm safety, wildlife management, and wildlife conservation can apply. This scholarship will be open to Texas residents who must be a TSRA member, have a hunting background, be a full-time student, and maintain a grade point average of 2.50 or greater at their selected Texas college or university.

Sportsman Application

Applicants should review all scholarship criteria thoroughly to ensure they meet the criteria for the scholarship to which they are applying. Scholarship applications will be available by April 1st of the current award year and are due electronically by 5:00 pm on June 14th. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants may apply to more than one scholarship program; however, they may only be selected for one award. The goal of the TSRA Scholarship Committee is to review, evaluate, and make scholarship recipient recommendations by July 10th of the current award year. The TSRA Scholarship Committee will notify the TSRA Tubb Scholarship Recipients, and notification for Endowed Fund Recipients will come directly from the TSRA Foundation. 

Funding for the William T. Clarke Jr., Paul Bartlett & Kitty Benson, and Sportsman's Scholarships is from the TSRA Endowed Fund. The William T. Clarke Jr Estate has provided significant funding for the endowed fund, as have many other contributors. Donations to the TSRA Foundation are encouraged and are tax deductible. These contributions help support our youth shooting program and scholarship efforts.
