TRSA Business Member to Host Veteran Event

September 19, 2026 — The Texas Heroes Museum (La Grange, Texas) is hosting its annual Texas Heroes Day Event on Saturday, September 19, 2026. This year features Pat Lyons, a Vietnam Veteran who served as Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP, pronounced “lurp”). LRRP’s gathered intelligence information deep within enemy territory during the war. Pat will speak upstairs at the museum, in the Sheriff’s bedroom, at 1 pm and 3 pm. This year is an extra special event for the TSRA Business Member, as they will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Texas Heroes Museum! On September 19, 2016, Judge Ed Janecka officiated the dedication of the Fayette County Old Jail as the Texas Heroes Museum.

A Museum with 3 Main Features

The Texas Heroes Museum describes its operation in three main features:
1. As mentioned, the museum is in the former Fayette County Jail. One of the original jail cells in the historic building is still used.
2. The museum serves as an ongoing tribute to the men and women who have taken extreme measures and sacrifices in defense of our great state and nation.
3. The museum also serves as the Bob Lain Memorial Library. The collection includes 868 military history books, written by the Texas hero who lost his legs in Vietnam.

RSVP Early

The museum is open from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, and free to visit outside of special events. To attend special events, there is a $5 charge per person ($4 for seniors and veterans). Members of the Texas Heroes Museum can attend special events for free and receive priority seating. Seating is limited. If you want to attend this special program, please RSVP by email to TexasHeroesMuseum@gmail.com. The museum will save seats for you at the show you specify in your RSVP. Please RSVP early.
