TSRA has joined forces with G2 Ranch, a premier trophy hunting facility located in Pearsall, Texas. Only an hour away from San Antonio, G2 Ranch offers 8,000+ acres of hunting. The hunts include Whitetail, Exotics, Turkey, and Dove Hunts.
G2 Ranch hosted the 2024 TSRA Women’s Hunt, an annual drawing/fundraiser held by TSRA. This year’s drawing allowed for eight lucky winners. The women were treated to a two-night all-inclusive stay at G2 Ranch.
The winners arrived at G2 Ranch on October 21, 2024 for the hunt. Immediately impressed with the facilities, they checked in and received a tour. Afterward, they settled into the main area of the lodge to make their introductions. “We shared the same excitement about winning this wonderful opportunity to dove hunt at this beautiful location,” shared Mattie M. Marcum. “We all made six new friends,” said Abhie Morris.

Like all TSRA Members, these women met because of their like-minded personalities. But they bonded over their differences, too. “Our group had various experiences which allowed us to bond together as a cohesive group of women,” explained Marcum. “Two of us were experienced registered sporting clays shooters. Others enjoyed rifles and pistol shooting. We even had a firearms instructor in our group. Another was navigating the world of shooting after the loss of her husband, while another was teaching herself hunting skills through Texas Parks and Wildlife. Still another was involved in raising exotics on her family property.”
Carleta Watts was one with experience, but because she had never hunted dove before, the prize was something new. “It was wonderful,” she explained. “I have hunted javelina with a bow. Deer, turkey, and wild hog with a rifle. I have hunted pheasants on my Dad’s farm in Hereford. Just last year I got to go quail hunt at the Austin Gun Club. But I had never experienced hunting dove. It was SO much fun.” Carleta reiterated the new friendships that were formed during the trip too. “Just amazing. In just a short time, new friends,” she said. “Good shooters, hunters, and safe ones at that. Ready and willing to help each other.”

In line with the idea of bringing people together, G2 Ranch is a family-owned business. They have top-of-the-line amenities. The facility offers both bunkhouse and private suite lodging. They can host up to 130 guests in the hunting lodge. Guests have the option to include all-inclusive meal and beverage packages. Continental breakfast, and lunch and dinner buffets are all prepared by executive chefs.
The prize came with four dove hunts for the eight women. The group was as successful in their hunts as they were in forming their friendships. Together, they learned to navigate the field. They utilized each others skills and worked together. The quantity of hunts gave full-advantage of the flocks of doves on the South Texas terrain.
